This presents the A Major Pentatonic scale. The A Major pentatonic scale consists of the A, B, C#, E, F# notes. The A Major pentatonic scale is derived from the A Major scale by dropping the 4th (D) and 7th (G#) tones from the A Major scale. The distinction between the Am pentatonic scale and the A Major pentatonic scale is significant and you should be able to clearly distinguish the more upbeat nature of the A Major scale.

Please note that the first pattern in the 5 pattern diagrams of the A Major pentatonic scale has the root note "A" rooted on the Low and High E strings.
